Sat 10th Sept Bank Quay Bulls 'A' 30 - v - Parkside Golborne 'A' 26
The Bulls second team gained their first win in the Mark Norris Building Services North West Counties Sixth Division with a come from behind victory over Parkside Golbourne.
Parkside opened the scoring with a converted try, but Bank Quay started to control the ball and John Barry took an inside pass to score an unconverted try. The Bulls kept up the pressure and took the lead when Lee Westwood forced his way over the line with Dean Braddish adding the convertion from wide out.
Bank Quay went close to increasing their lead on numerous occsasions but let Parkside off the hook while the visitors kicking game produced many goal line drop outs that the Bulls did well not to concede any points. In the final minute of the half the Bulls got the try their play deserved from Wayne Shaw and with the last kick of the half, Dean Braddish was just off target with the convertion.
Parkside dominated the opening 20 minutes of the second half with two converted tries and a penalty goal giving the visitors a six point lead. The Bulls then started to make the most of their chances and the come back started with Dean Braddish crossing beneath the posts for a try, which he also converted.
Bank Quay were looking by far the fitter team and regained the lead when Bryan Cragg powered his way over in the corner for an unconverted try. It was left to Dean Braddish to complete the Bulls scoring as he outpaced the defence for a try close to the touchline and then landed a superb convertion.
Parkside crossed for a late converted try, but it was the Bulls who had secured their first league win of the season. Best for the Bank Quay were Lee Westwood, Wayne Shaw and Lee Brown.
The Bulls First team were awarded their Lancashire Cup First round tie with the opponents Shaw Rhinos being unable to raise a team. In the Second round draw the Bulls will travel to St Helens side Haresfinch on the 24th September.

This Saturday the Bulls second team are at Longshaw St against Southport. Whilst the First team travel to Bold Miners. Both League fixtures kicking off at 2.30pm Back to top
